Brooke Allison

Throughout my life I have studied art and worked in a number of mediums.  I have been drawn to pastels the past 15 years as they allow me quick movement of hand for loose rendering, gestures and vivid color.  I focus on only one or two elements throughout my painting rather than capturing every detail edge to edge.  When my composition is clear, the values are strong and the strokes of pastel are confident, I know I have finished my piece.  I am passionate about the outdoors and traveling to other parts of the world to observe and be submerged into new cultures and geography.  These experiences and places influence much of my work as well as give inspiration to create.
