James Curtis
James Curtis is the Artist in Residence at the Edge of Glass Gallery in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle. James learned his craft under the tutelage of renowned local legends: Bob Rigg and John Benett. He was born a U.S. citizen in Korea and he speaks three languages. He brings this cultural diversity to his work. James constantly experiments; he is never content to duplicate even himself. He classifies himself as generalist, an unusual niche in blown glass, where most artists prefer to specialize. He has a broad range and works in a wide selection of styles, shapes and colors. He takes a holistic approach to glass, always ready to change course as the situation merits. He finds inspiration everywhere, from archaeology, from nature, from music. James is always eager to express new thoughts into glass.
