Maria Root started Primitiva Pottery by making house wares and planters. Her designs transplant themselves from her garden to her studio–often with some creative license.
Garden art has a special place in my heart and studio. I use terracotta clay to retain a sense of connection to the earth essential to a garden and bright glazes to remind us of sun-kissed gardens. I offer many pieces to make any garden special: Garden Totems, Bird Spas, Tree Necklaces and Tree Bracelets (to honor or decorate favorite trees), Planter Pods, Garden Pools, Bird Pods, and Shells for garden or table.
I hope that my pieces create special moments in your garden or home out of ordinary experiences: planting for spring, providing food, water, or shelter to birds, or decorating a tree. I hope my creations offer you a spark of joy, and invite you to pause and appreciate an ordinary moment of living.
