Victoria Herford
I grew up in a wonderfully rural environment, and the local woods and ponds were my nanny as a child. Everything native to the area was at some point captured and brought back to my bedroom for closer inspection and observation. I almost ended up pursuing an education in the Natural Sciences, but was delightfully called to the world of art instead. In my 20′s, I learned that one Great Grandfather was a jeweler and watchmaker, and the other Great Grandfather was a blacksmith and ornamental iron worker. This explained my obsession with metal and tools, and why I have been tinkering with metals since age 13.
As a resident of the Northwest, I have been influenced by the Japanese aesthetic. Much of my work invokes the meditative quality of nature, with a contemporary twist.
